Many scholarships are available to incoming and current students of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Some are administered by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and some by the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and are open to all University of Houston students. The Cullen College of Engineering also offers a number of merit-based scholarships.
In addition, depending on availability of funds, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering awards to ECE students the following scholarships:
Betty Barr Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a female ECE student. Recipient must have at least a GPA of 2.50 and must have demonstrated leadership qualities and financial need.
IEEE Power & Energy Society Scholarship Plus Initiative
This scholarship recognizes undergraduate students who have declared a major in Electrical and Computer Engineering, are high achievers with at least a 3.00 GPA, with distinctive extracurricular committments, and are committed to exploring the power and energy field.
Omron Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Junior or Senior Electrical Engineering student with at least a GPA of 3.00. Preference is given to children of Omron employees who meet the eligibility.
