Scholarships

Many scholarships are available to incoming and current students of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Some are administered by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and some by the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and are open to all University of Houston students. The Cullen College of Engineering also offers a number of merit-based scholarships. 

In addition, depending on availability of funds the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering awards to ECE students the following scholarships:

  • Betty Barr Scholarship
    This scholarship is awarded to a female ECE student. Recipient must have at least a GPA of 2.5 and must have demonstrated leadership qualities and financial need.
  • Omron Foundation Scholarship
    This scholarship is awarded to a Junior or Senior Electrical Engineering student with at least a GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to children of Omron employees who meet the eligibility.

  • General Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Scholarships
    One or more of these scholarships will be awarded to an Electrical or Computer Engineering student depending on availability of funds. Applicants must have successfully completed at least ECE 1331 and 2300 and have a GPA of at least 3.0. Student organization, campus and community involvement, leadership activities and/or financial need will also be considered.

  • Cobb/Fendley Endowed Scholarship

  • HSF General College Scholarship
