Here we grow again! Welcome to the November issue of the ECE Newsletter from the University of Houston. These are truly exciting times for the department, with our research expenditures topping $7M, our research constantly in the news, new labs in our brand-new MREB research building, 120 journal papers and several books published, our biggest and best cohort of students ever, our best alumni mixer ever, stellar new faculty members, including our first NAE member, and four new faculty openings that set the stage for our next phase of progress. Our faculty sand students continue to make breakthroughs that are changing our world. Most recently, Aaron Becker, Jiefu Chen, Zhu Han and Miao Pan received a grant from the National Science Foundation to build advanced communication networks among underwater robots. Wei Shih invented a glucose-sensing contact lens by using noninvasive glucose sensor technology. At the annual Undergraduate Research Day, our students presented award-winning research in micro-robotics, neuroscience, and more.
