TcSUH Scholarships

TcSUH Houston Electrical League Scholarships

The Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston works with academic departments in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Cullen College of Engineering to offer two (2) Houston Electrical League (HEL) undergraduate or graduate scholarships per year for talented students working in one of the Center’s multidisciplinary laboratories. Each award is $1000. - $3000. U.S., and is based on merit.

Criteria

The TcSUH Scholarship Committee will select each recipient based on his or her academic and research accomplishments while an undergraduate or graduate student in a department aligned with the Center. For consideration, an applicant must meet the following criteria: 1) be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Science and Engineering programs, 2) have a current UH GPA of ≥3.0, and 3) have a minimum of one calendar year as a full-time student remaining in his or her studies.

How to Apply for Fall 2014 Scholarships

By April 1 applicants must submit to the TcSUH Scholarship Committee an email with “HEL Scholarship Application” in the subject field and a single PDF document attachment that contains a full CV (with publication record, if a graduate student, and full copies of published and submitted papers from research performed at UH, and a document giving a brief account of the student’s research contribution to each publication or submission), and an unofficial UH transcript. A letter of recommendation from the student’s research advisor or TcSUH PI should be submitted separately to the TcSUH Scholarship Committee via email tcsuhawards [at] uh [dot] edu .

Notification

Scholarship recipients will be notified when a scholarship is awarded, typically by late May/early June.

TcSUH Cora Hawley Scholarships

The Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston works with academic departments in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics to offer two Cora Hawley undergraduate or graduate scholarships per year for talented students. Preference may be given to declared physics majors. Each award is $1000. – $2500.U.S., and is based on merit.

Criteria

The TcSUH Scholarship Committee will select each recipient based on his or her academic and research accomplishments while an undergraduate or graduate student in a department aligned with the Center. For consideration, an applicant must meet the following criteria: 1) be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics or the Cullen College of Engineering with an interest in superconducting and related materials research, 2) have a current UH GPA of ≥3.0, and 3) have a minimum of one calendar year as a full-time student remaining in his or her studies.
